A Few Straights From A Friend

A friend that got me into wet shaving had an uncle that was a barber. He had his uncle's old straights and said he would never get up the nerve to use them, so he gave them to me. He kept an Engel's Special for sentimental reasons.

I wound up with a Double Duck Satinedge, a Kinfolks Wedge and a Kuell's Kutlery from Westside Grinding.

Nice collection there. They all have a bit of honing damage (mostly need the heel pulled back a bit), but any experienced honer could fix them up right quick. The duck is definitely worth the restore, the other two are a bit more worn down, but still have a lot of life if you want to bring them back. The duck may even be worth going for a restore if you have the money or interest in doing that. I've seen some restorers make really nice scales by pulling the decals off dubl ducks and applying them to custom made scales. Probably would cost a pretty penny though.
