500th post ~Ideas~ PIF

this may be the Tanqueray talkin but I wanna give some stuff away.

I'm sure to hit 500 post soon so lets do something.

ok so here is what's up for the PIF (crappy cell pic)

the Omega brush in the picture is mine, I'm too lazy to go fetch the new one from my car. but yours will be new in box. the tabac is also slightly used

here's what I'd like to do
My first son was born June 10th of this year. watching my wife give birth to my son was the most life altering experience imaginable. here we are 5 months later and I still cant get my jaw off the floor.
I have an addictive personality. one of my oldest addictions...tattoos.
I want to get a tattoo to remember the day my son was born. the day that I saw my wife...in ways I never imagined I would...

this will be on my ribs

I was originally thinking of getting the date in roman numerals
but I thought, there is bound to be a number of creative and thoughtful gents on the ol B&B that may have some input.

I cant promise that I'll use the exact tattoo design/idea you suggest, but whom ever influences the final ink the most will win what I have put above. might even through in some cella since I always seem to have an abundance of it

probably will be a second place as well.

I will be getting this ink done sometime between 26 Nov and 11 Dec while in the states (S.D.) for a training TDY.

also, I am partial to classic American style tats, but please dont let that limit Ideas..after all...when my last tattoo appointment fell through I said well I'm "always flexible" and got "semper gumby" tatted on the inside of my arm. I showed up expecting ink, and wasn't leaving empty skinned.

MODS - this will inevitably end up veering away from the topic of shaving so if it needs moved to the barbershop or wherever, my feelings wont be hurt

How many children do you intend to have? You may want to insure that the theme can be continued for the next child. Personally, I have five children and have been considering getting a series of stained glass windows tattooed around my ribs with each window depicting an image that reminds me of each child (names at top or bottom of the window). If you want, you could just do the window frame with name or date. Then later get the image filled in with some particularly defining moment in the child's life.

i like the idea of remembering the day your son was born with a tattoo.. i had a random idea.. and went to look for a picture..

i believe that tattoo-ing at your chest/rib area actually symbolises something that you hold dear to you.

firstly for your son.. you could request for the tattoo to be exactly like your son.. i feel that this tattoo it really shows 'the day your son was born'.. how you really hold him dear/close to you. Add his name and the date..



i believe the most important day for a wedded couple would be their wedding day..

you could actually add some details in the picture.. like.. for eg.. 1 hand in the picture will be yours.. the other will be your wife's.. add a wedding band on each hand.. add the names.. and the date..

like this.. but on the fingers in the tattoo..



anyway just a random thought since i saw this.. hope it helps in a way or so!

I have Treu Sein tattooed on my ribs. I will take a picture when I get home. It means "to be loyal" in German. Loyal to my wife, family and friends. I don't know if you have had the pleasure of getting a tattoo on your rib cage yet, it feels like someone took a piece of broken glass and rubbed it up and down my ribs! Great place for a meaningful tattoo, considering what you go through to get it.

I'm only planning on haveing the one. but who knows

I've thought about this before. I work with a guy who has his son's on one forearm and his daughter's on the other. looks sweet

I'd go with this concept, and the roman numerals added in for the date. It also leaves the ability to add more if you have more kids in the future, doesn't lock the design into just one, but doesn't look "unfinished" if it's a stand alone in the end.

I like the footprint or a little handprint idea. I think insteat of the rib though, you could do it more on your chest to signify that your carry your family close to your heart. Maybe the little hand could still have the tiny hospital braclet with his name and birthday on it too. Just an idea. Great PIF by the way.

my sons birthstone is the pearl, so that's what SWMBO is getting for christmas. not really sure how I could work that into a tattoo but it's worth a thought

I have always loved the idea of getting footprints, but for me I wanted something a bit more unique. I decided to get a solar system tattoo with my wife as the sun in the middle and my 4 kids as the planets around the outside. They are represented by the colors as they correspond to the color of their birthstones. I have boy/girl twins, so thei planets have a blue and pink ring around them to differentiate them. You can do this type of idea with anything that has meaning to you, or you and your wife. If you are only planning in the one child, then do something that represents the two of you with the child in the middle. Here is my ink:

perhaps its just me, but hear is a Idea that have been stewing,
first wait, you don't know him yet take your time and then you will get the right idea when the time comes.

hear is a funny story, my father worked with native Americans.
They can't see my spirit animal. I'm way to old not to have a spirit animal at this point.
then at one point this old Indian named Joe looks at me and says to my father,
" It's a turtle."
" how do you know that, some one asked ?"
"turtles take for ever to show up."
some time later you know what showed up ? sea turtle.

the point wait till you can see him, for what he is.
