4" wide oil stone, how to hone?

Hi,
I have a 4" wide oil stone temporarily. And it is very smooth.(seems +6k I am not sure) Do I need to make circular/x pattern motion or should I make as flat as possible strokes while honing razors with no chips? Thanks.

I estimate it to be a kind of various Turkey oil stones. I will post a picture.

Sorry for the delay in replying. It sounds like what you have is probably something you would use as a finisher (or possibly just before a finisher), much like a translucent Arkansas stone. But it's hard to tell without pictures or in-person experience.
