2013-2014 BPL Football season thread

Hey guys!

I was just noticing that nobody has started a BPL football/soccer thread for this season (or at least I couldnt find one, correct me if I am wrong). I am living in the US and its hard to find people who follow football/soccer so I figured I would post on here. There are bound to be some other fans and I would love to talk about what is in my opinion the greatest sport in the world. Everyone is welcome to post (unless you are an Ars*n*l fan.....JK....we accept everyone around here.

Anyways to get things started I figured we could talk about the clubs we support and make our predictions for the coming year. And I am sure in the next few days people will have things to say about the transfer window closing!

Anyways,

My club is Tottenham! COYS
I am expecting a close race this year for the top four spots. My prediction is that chelsea will come in first followed by man. united, man. city and finally tottenham.

I hope the rest of you are gonna join in to keep up to date on this season!

There was a shout to start a PL thread on the older champions league thread and I see you have done so. Good man (even if you are a filthy spud :wink2:) .

My club is Arsenal. I am originally from London, England and actually lived for a good few years in Finsbury Park not so very far away from the old Highbury ground.

Looking forward to the north London derby on Sunday. COYG!

Despite a frustrating transfer window I predict a top 4 spot for Arsenal and think of the other top tier teams Chelsea are probably most likely to clinch it. I think City are pretty leaky in defense and Man U are going to struggle somewhat under Moyes, especially if old glass cannon Van Persie gets crocked (and lets face it that's pretty overdue at this point).

Be very interesting to see how Tottenham fair this year. Whatever else I may think of Spurs :)devil:) I can't fault the ambition they are demonstrating with the team they have put together for this season.

Another longtime Arsenal supporter checking in. Rich, I think your predictions will turn out to be fairly accurate.

Arsenal supporter here (sorry OP!!). Actually feeling really positive about the Gunners this season, with the Derby result and the last minute signings. Looking forward to a ManU implosion this season as well. Looks like the league might actually be competitive.

Good to win against Marseille. Great way to start the CL campaign. Arsenal could go top of the table tomorrow :001_smile (of course, so could spurs :scared:).

Gonna be up and shaved early for that match.
:shaving:

I'm going to have to record tomorrow's Arsenal match and watch it later in the day. Hoping we can keep the good run going.

Arsenal win. Manchester clubs lose. Spurs and Chelsea draw. Now if Sunderland can put Liverpool to the sword it'll be a perfect gooner weekend!

I cannot believe how poorly my Man City played 2nd half. The announcers had it dead right, clearly their early success was coming too easy and they became complacent. Ah well.

And the Arsenal train keeps rolling on. I'm so optimistic about our season so far it's a delight to watch the team at the moment.

We're almost certainly going to have a down time of the season. But I am enjoying this good run for as long as it lasts. :001_smile

Glad this international break is almost over. Looking forward to watching the Gunners again Saturday. Also, it was nice to see England win yesterday to secure their place in the World Cup. A bit weird rooting against Szcsesney, though.

Blinding Arsenal match today. Cazorla back, the lads just look like they are going from strength to strength at the moment. Ramsey's goal just had me leap out of my chair cheering today. Slight wobble after Flamini went off but really some sublime play today. Top of the table baby!
Just a shame that TSN's website totally lost all their BPL coverage inexplicably at half time.

Shame to lose to Dortmund on Tuesday. Nervy Arsenal win today, good to be able to tough it out when you are not playing your best. Bad red card by Foy though, terrible decision. Hope we appeal that card.
Looking forward to having proper wingers back soon, the stand ins are really not giving us the threat down the wings.
