Just figured I would pass this on because i found it interesting. Adjusted for inflation the 1905 Gillette Single Ring costing $5 when first introduced would be the equivalent of Gillette introducing a $118 razor today. To be exact the $5 razor then would be equal to you buying a $117.86 razor now. really makes you appreciate the price of these vintage DE's when you find a great score in an antique shop.

Wow, that is really incredible! But, I guess it would be worth the money if it lasts for 100 years (like the ones from 1905 have).
Exactly; a razor that lasts centuries or a piece of plastic, that if dropped will break... I know exactly which one i'd go for..
1905 would be like the equivalent of a Merkur Futur in today's market.
Hmm interesting, I wonder what an English SS *58 would work out at....
Even at $118 it still works out to be a bargain. Compare the razor and a years worth of blades, vs. a Fusion and a years worth of cartridges.
