Picked this up for the shave den. Will need to be flattened, matted, and framed.

Thats great picture, did you pic it up from the web? You should put up a picture when it has been framed and hung.

Thanks. eBay. I was in London with my wife a few weeks back, and she encouraged me to look for prints there, but we ran out of time.

Great find, Chief! SWMBO has been pretty tolerant so far but if I tried to put something on the bathroom wall I bet I would hear about it in a hurry ... :scared:

Wow these were great finds for a trip that ran out of time. These are fine pieces of art that takes a person back, good for any room! Have fun framing and enjoy them.

The print arrived. I actually picked up two of them. One is in extra fine condition.

Below is a photo of the text that went with the photo. Again, this was published in Harper's Weekly in 1875. The engraving was made after a recently completed and exhibited painting titled "Fifty Years Ago", so the writer is reflecting on a London Barbershop experience in 1825 from the perspective of 1875.

(Camera battery ran down before I could try for a shot with better focus.)

When I look at the illustration, I keep waiting for the dog to bound out from under the chair, startle both the customer and barber, and bloody mayhem to ensue.

Fun read, thanks for sharing. My neck tightened thinking about sitting in that chair without neck support.
