Getting the blade to fit was a little tricky, but once I got that right it was a very comfortable razor to use. I don't have a lot of open comb razors, so I can't really make a comparison; however, I don't think the razor was particularly aggressive. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the razor worked! Modifying the blades isn't really that difficult. I just used a pair of cuticle scissors.

Thank you. With the new GEM, I have started soaking my GEM & DE blades in alcohol and it seems to be working well. We'll see over time.

The custom handle on the GEM is spectacular, Jamie. I would think it gives better control of the shave. Fine looking brush also. Neat flare effects btw.
