I was initially planning on using my gold Fatip razor head on this beautiful monster size Triad Brass handle (95mm x 132 grams) that I received from my granddaughter for Christmas but while trying to place the Bolzono blade in the top cap, I dropped the top cap on my granite countertop and both pins broke off. I really liked the Fatip in gold but I do have it in Anthracite but I'm so bummed out I decided to use the DLC iKon Slant head instead for tomorrow's shave.

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angles for my beard)

LASS Woody Lavender today (time to order a new jar of this too). 20 seconds: load & go with the Plisson brush. Great lather and scent. I loaded a new Rapira Swedish SS in the Slim. Excellent, smooth, close, nick free shave. I finished with Pino Silvestre.

A most enjoyable shave even though it was slightly rushed. The Goodwill LC was my first razor I found in the wild. It came in a Pocket Edition basket weave case, and it was my third OC razor. It just gives me renewed love for all of my "NEW" LC razors. You cannot get a better shave from any other instrument. The Vintage Yardley is superb soap, and the Vie Long is one of my favorite brushes.

Will I or won't I?

I have six straights that appear to my relatively untrained eye to be susceptible to various levels of restoration. The temptation to tempt fate waxes and wanes.

I'm thinking that I'll send at least two or three of these out to one of B&B's/SRP's/TSN's favorite & esteemed honemeisters. Given my general indecisiveness, I can probably procrastinate on this almost indefinitely. Five of these straights are inherited (wife's family) and one was bought recently for $12.00 off fleaBay, so the investment to date is minimal.

Will I or won't won't I?
Stay tuned.

In any case, today's shave is expected to include my new old British Gillette No. 58 (nice shaver and a tremendous looker, this one, and a bargain to boot), probably a fresh Astra SP, possibly Panna Crema Namaste and who knows what else.

One certainty is that there will be numerous additional infusions of my favorite alkaloid -- caffeine -- in the form of more espresso and some pu'er tea.

Prep - Shower / Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam towel
Razor - Gillette Fat Handled Tech
Blade - Feather Hi-Stainless (#1)
Brush - Omega 20106
Soap - Palmolive Stick / Glycerine
After - Frozen towel / Alum / Witch Hazel
Result - BBS

First for Palmolive soap with glycerine added, which made quite a difference. Always liked the scent but found it drying. Never tried a Feather in the Fat Handled Tech before and it was simply as smooth and comfortable a shave as is possible.

No politics here. Draw your own conclusions. Some big shoes to fill for the kid. Haven't been a Nah Yawker in more than 30 years myself. Still, a frontpage worthy story this.

Okay, back on topic now.

Newly arrived -- all the way from Hungary -- a British Gillette ... I think it's a No. 58, but I'll post on the appropriate thread to solicit some expert opinions. Cased, but the case is ratty & tatty. It even smells like it was stored somewhere dank & dusty.

The new old razor was a mess when it arrived. Now cleaned up, it awaits a pairing with a vintage butterscotch Simpsons Tulip for the London Army Navy Stores. Probably to be lathered with Mike's Barbershop, but I am prone to last-minute changes of software. A Personna Red. Some sort of Myrsol. Possibly Blue.
