Happy almost new year, all!

This is a fun SOTD Theme Week!

Let’s see any Christmas/Holiday gifts or recent purchases with images this week.

Let’s see the shaving gear you were gifted over the holidays or stuff that you bought yourself that recently arrived…and lets see it in use!

Get a new razor for Christmas? New soap or AS you bought yourself? Let’s see it. We want to see you incorporate your new stuff into a photo.

This isn’t only about the holidays… if you have something new you bought yourself, we want to see it!

Per usual, if you don’t have anything festive or recently purchased… post your shave or tell us about it anyways! As always, being creative and having fun IS mandatory but sticking with the theme is NOT mandatory but encouraged.

Have a Happy and safe Holiday season, All!!!

The soap scent is light but the lather is just superb...very slick!!
Another excellent shave with this banana-shaped favorite razor. Stropped it on the 0.1um balsa (60) then on the Kanayama. Didn't seem to improve or degrade the edge...hmmm. Otherwise, 3 smooth and comfortable passes for a bbs-ccs finish...

26 December, 2022

Prep: Hot towel
Razor: Rockwell 6S – #3
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Rod Neep CS-1 "Forest Flame" 30mm Extra Dense Silvertip
Soap: Barrister & Mann: Vespers ( Excelsior )
Post: CeraVe moisturising lotion..
Fragrance: Tuxedo by Yves Saint Laurent

today was Barrister & Mann: Vespers in the Excelsior base... one thing that I did notice was that it felt slightly richer and more luxurious compared to the Glissant base, which also become evident in the post shave feel.

Hello friends,

Nobody forgets their first time with R41. Today was my turn…
Lo Squalo, how the Italians call the The Beast, was my Christmas gift and it was very appropriate, since I have always had a love and hate relationship with myself.

Happy Shaves!

After many years is still one of my fav razor.
In italy we call Squalo the first 2011 version but this too is a great razor .
Don't close the angle when shaving, keep an open angle and it will be gentler than an R89 .
I used it yesterday so today something kinder

Today was the last day of use of the B&M soap. After 43 shaves (four passes on my face and neck and two on my head) the soap is all used up. Very nice soap and I can recommend it to all. The shave was uneventful which, to me, is a good thing. Have a good day.

Notes to today’s shave:

Medium shave or perhaps mediocre shave is a better term. This blade and I are no match - at least not in the first run anyway. Rich and tuggy from the first stroke so I did light WXTG and very shallow / light touch ATG (and not in all areas).

Sufficient for today and sub par compared to other days. That’s what’s great about this Discovery Challenge: find out about blades and find out your own version of YMMV.

New T3 was amazing to use!

Enjoy your shave today!

Thank you very much for your kind reply, for the hints on how to use R41 and for the explanation about the 2011 version being the real Squalo. I love the nicknames the Italians give for an special item. Lo Squalo is a wonderful definition for it and so is L'aratro for the old Fatip.

Yesterday, I managed a wonderful shave with R41, but was cautious enough to have a 2 pass, only. In a few days I will follow your recommendations and try a 3 pass shave.

By the way, I love your close up pics.

Cheers!
