Never had a problem getting a fine lather with Williams. Got me a new travel brush today (Omega 10086) and here are some pics of it's 1st break-in with Williams. Took about 45 seconds.

Lather looks awesome! That is a van Der Hagen bowl correct??
I just came across a partial roll of Williams Tonsorial (3 left), this will be my first go with Williams - from what I've heard it should be great, will get back to you.

Aye Captain. It is a VDH bowl from their starter kit. Probably got that about 9-10 years ago.
It's an awesome bowl!
It's a good place to store a soap and load from it, but too small for good lather building, IMO.
That is exactly why I never bothered to get one. They do look really nice though.

That's what you get for mixing up your Williams and VDH products.

Never, I'm taking that one to the grave. You can find the metal Bicentennial Williams mug on eBay from time to time.

...and that's just another reason I use plastic bowls.
Yeah, I'm really freaked out that I might knock my Williams milk glass mug off the counter, and just this morning in fact, I replaced it with my metal Williams mug and put the glass one back on display.
+1 I definitely like to load a brush from this bowl and then face lather. This bowl is just a wee bit too small for getting a good lather.
I think it is an awesome bowl.
Pyrex Snapware come in a pack of 3 in the store and are awesome for keeping the puck partially hydrated because they have a decent seal. They are about $3 each. Great for loading, not so good for making later.
