Merkur HD problem!

Hello everyone,

I'm from Bulgaria and i bought Merkur HD three months ago. It was send to me with a postal service. The delivery was 7.35 dollars.
I'm shaved with this razor 2 months and now i shave with Sensor. It's because i didn't feel well with Merkur. From the one side of the blade it shaves good but from the other side of the blade it shaves different (bad). Today i looked at the razor and noticed a problem. I can't describe it (my English is bad) so i took a picture of it:

I suppose it's not how it should be. I have not ever missed it.

But i noticed that when i tight it very much its getting better. Next time i shave i will tight it very very much. But it's still not how it should be.

Any ideas. I bough ti from westcoast.

I wrote to them in their site on "Contact us". I'm waiting for a reply.
But i don't think that they can help me because if they can give me my money back or change my razor with new one i must pay the delivery two more times. That makes 3x7.35 = 22.05$ .....The merkur costs 33.50. That mean for one merkur i pay 55.55$ (in my country this is almost half the minimum wage)

Write to Merkur/Dovo directly, and if they determine it's a problem they're good at replacing/repairing their razors.

Just curious, if your in Bulgaria why did you buy your Merkur from a vendor on the West Coast of the USA?
Couldn't you find a vendor in Europe or a local store that sells Merkur razors?

cooncatbob, I couldnt find this razoh here. There aren't any DE, SE and even straight razors here.
Here gillette is monopolist and if you are lucky somewhere you can find a Willkinson.

Definitely contact Ms. Rothstein. When I had trouble a couple of years ago with my slant she sent me a replacement free of charge. I was very happy with their customer service.

I think it's write to contact westcoast first because i bought the razor from them. They answered me:
Hello Denis,

I'm sorry to hear about the defect in your razor. I can't seem to get the photos to load, but I'm not questioning the issue. After 30 days, we advise you to talk to Dovo/Merkur directly. Razor does not shave well. It is different on both sides of a blade. It shave at the end of a spike but in the middle the blade not touch the hair and remain beard.

Strange case indeed!! The gaps are not symetrical...

How disappointing. On a recently ordered merkur slant, I unscrewed the head to insert a blade and some of the chroming just broke off. Definitely some quality control issues.

I do not blame westcoast for this!

Just have in mind for Merkur.

Now i'm watching for other razor to buy. But i don't know what to choose. Should i ask here or open new topic?

I want something proved. DE razor. I think I prefer TTO. I'm thinking of buying Gillette Super Speed. I wonder between these two models:

Both of those two Superspeed Razors you have pictures of are very good razors. They are solid and of very high quality. You can find both of those razors here on the Buy Sell Trade section, though I think the only problem you would have is getting someone to do the shipment to Bulgaria.
E-bay is another possibility for you, but otherwise, finding these in a store or shop is very unlikely.

It would seem that there is something wrong with the part the connects the top with the handle. If you let me have your full postal address, I will send you a new razor.

I've never had much luck with the 40's SS for getting a close shave. Haven't worked at it very much either. The flair tip was better and the red tip version was great.
