Your razor rinsing technique?

Do you:

a) rinse under running hot water tap?

b) fill the sink (after cleaning it first)?

c) pour canteen water into your GI steel pot helmet

d) other, shave dry, etc

One reason I ask is do you 'sink fillers' wash the basin every time before shaving? This plus rinsing shavings down afterwards seems like a big PIA. Then again running hot water isn't 'green'.

I rinse under running tap water as needed. Hot or cold, whatever it takes. Don't leave the water running all the time, just seems wasteful and is unnecessary. Sink doesn't seem to get dirty any faster or slower.

Hi,

While I fill the sink for my hot water face rinse, I hold the razor under the hot tap while the sink is filling. I then shake the razor dry and let it soak in alcohol while I rinse my face.

The razor is then removed form the alcohol, shaken and placed on the shelf to air-dry.

Have fun !

Best regards

Russ

Sink filler here. I just give the razor a quick vigorous shake with the head in the water whenever it needs a rinse. I don't have much problem with hair and soap scum since I rinse my face off with water anyway when I'm done, so that process washes most of the residue away.

I fill my sink with hot water and soak my razor and brush while showering. I use the sink water to shake my razor in while shaving. When done shaving I drain and rinse the sink and razor. I noticed that using tallow triple milled soaps, that my razor is hazy and has some build up on it. The drain and plug on the vanity is also collecting scum, much more so then I'm used to with the soaps I used before being introduced to tallow.

How do you keep them clean in this situation. I spent a lot of time and elbow grease cleaning and polishing these razors to bring them back to life. I would hate to have to do that all over again when there maybe a easier way to maintain their cleanly status.

Does anyone soak them in Barbacide or some other type of cleaner? Do you just occasionally spray them with scrubbing bubbles, or what, should I do to keep them tip top.

Here too. My beard is thick and if I fill the sink as I've tried, even shaving daily, the water becomes filled with "beard". Not much of a rinse between passes.

Turn on the faucet for a sec, rinse, shake, shave. Repeat.

I have a plastic measuring jug which I fill with water and use to clean my razor after each stroke. And when I reapply the lather and throw away the used water in the jug and replace with fresh. Minimises water use which has to be a good thing

I used warm/cool tap water and rinse off after every few strokes or when the razor seems like it needs a rinse. I rinse it with hot water when I'm done.

If you use a sink of water... do you wash the basin of toothpaste spit and other nastiness, every time before shaving? :001_huh:

I like to rinse with running hot water all my shaving goods before drying them and putting them back in their spots.
