While I have not yet tried a Future, I very much love my 38C, HD long-handle very much. In fact, I love the weight, nicely textured handle, closeness of shave, fantastic control, and classic styling of the 38C. Also, the HD with a closed comb is a very forgiving razor if you occasionally shave while groggy. The only recommendation I have for the 38C is to use sharp blades. Feathers are a bit to advanced for me and Derby blades are a little to dull. Personally, I do best with my HD loaded with ordinary Merkur SS blades.
In contrast, the Future is a smooth handled modern razor. There are wildly varying reviews of the Future. Though, I am sure that both the HD and Future are very good razors. Thus, it seems like the best thing to do is let your preferences dictate which is more appealing to you and try one out.
