Yerba Mate

So my family has gotten away from the traditional methods of drinking yerba mate. They now drink it as mate cocido, which is basically as a tea. I, however, still enjoy it in the gourd through the metal straw.

Has anyone else had the pleasure of drinking yerba mate as such?

Yep, after an unforgettable travel in Argentina, during the winter I often prepare myself a Mate in the "mate" (bowl) and drink it with the "bombilla" (straw). ;)

Enter 'yerba' into the search function- we have many threads on that subject.

Oh, why yes you do. I typed this from my phone, so I didn't get any of those 'here is a similar thread' notices when I typed in the title. But yes, I drink both Taragui and Cruz de Malta. I prefer the latter.

Also, for those who don't drink teas, coffees, and mate straight up, my family used to pour hot milk in with the mate instead of water.

Another way is after you boil yourself a cup of joe, use the old coffee grains with some yerba mate and make an infused mix of coffee/mate cocido.

EDIT: is there any way to merge this thread with a previous 'Yerba Mate' thread? I feel a little embarrassed for making a repeat thread...
