Worst concert you ever saw

Here's a variation on the best concert thread that Walker started. What's the worst concert you ever saw? Without a doubt, for me it was The Cars "Candy-O" tour.

A fears ago i saw a hair band festival. It was Cinderella headlining with Quiet Riot, Firehouse, Ratt. Seems like there was someone else but i can't think of them right now. Cinderella was OK but the other ones sucked. A waste of money for me. I loved these groups growing up but it was just like they were there for the paycheck. Not to mention Ratt didn't have Stephen Pearcy.

Iron and Wine at a place called Mississippi Nights.

Understand that I LOVE Iron and Wine. I have for years. The crowd that night was clearly not fans at all or even familiar with him, though, or else they would have known that he sings in an absolute whisper. The stupid, loud, drunk crowd drowned him out all night and I didn't get to hear a thing.

Ozzy on the 'No Rest For the Wicked' tour - I'm not sure if he was supposed to be on the wagon at the time, but he was utterly wrecked on stage. He shuffled around almost bent double, singing the first few words of each line then lapsing into obscenities. It didn't fit in with the Ozzy legend of excess, he was just out of it.

My punk band when I was a teen was bad, but we toured any way. We knew good bands, I managed them, we got booked. We sucked. We sucked so bad we got shot at in boston and had to flee the stage.

It was like whoa loud bang, stop playing... BANG BANG those are gun shots BANG.. whistle POP! those are really close gun shots. RUN!

I love the Candy-O 8 track (yes, I had it on 8 track).

My worst concert is a tie between two bands I love on CD.... The Cure and New Order. I really love New Order, but they were so boring (circa 1985).

A classical concert back in undergrad. I was in the marching band and had a bunch of friends who were music majors, so I always went to their on-campus performances. Most were excellent and I always got in for free.

One of the concerts was a world debut of some professor's newest symphony. It was an atonal, 20th century piece about cloudscapes or something. I generally enjoy that genre, and the piece was alright.

What was interesting was that the composer inserted a 16 measure rest for the entire orchestra before the ending. The audience mistook it for the end and we began to applaud. Because of that, the orchestra stopped and didn't play the end.

The composer promptly had a public meltdown when he realized that the ending wasn't going to be played.

The worst concert I saw was Soundgarden , believe it or not. I love their music , but they played 2 or three of their popular songs off of badmotorfinger album and spent the next hour doing nothing but letting their guitars feed back and one guy [the bass player] did nothing but walk around lighting matches. All the played the 2 or 3 songs and for the rest of their set just made noise - no songs. I wanted my money back after that.

Not at the same concert, but these bands stink live when I saw them:
Smashing Pumpkins -- horrible sounding, didn't play any of their popular songs.
Queens of the Stone Age -- after they were Kyuss. They didn't look like they wanted to be there.
Kittie -- they just stink.
Cradle of Filth -- same concert as Kittie.
Methods of Mayhem -- same concert as Kitte and Cradle of Filth.
Limp Bizkit -- no explanation required here.
Rob Zombie -- Sounded horrible

and the list goes on. My memory is kind of fuzzy from those days....

Do you recall which tour you saw? I have seen the Cure twice - the Wish tour in 1992 and the Bloodflowers tour in 2000 (I think). The show I saw in 1992 was great and very memorable to me. The show from 2000 wasn't very good, at all.

About 1969. The band "The Yellow Payges". They wore yellow outfits, really. Forgettable lyrics. They were trying really hard, though.

I was doing light shows for better local bands, so was not impressed.

I never saw Soundgarden but it seemed like every concert review i read of them was sort of like this. Now, of course i'm sure they had there good shows and the press just focused on the bad ones but it just didn't seem like they wanted to be there (according to what i read) it's a shame, they made great music. Play free shows if you don't want to be there instead of having kids pay money to see you make an *** out of yourself. Sorry for my rant, i just didn't get the whole attitude alot of the grunge guys had back in the 90's

We walked out on Boy George and the Culture Club when they first came to the US and played a small place in NYC!!!
