The Citronella smell diminishes over time, but it's there.
I don't mind it and the soap works well enough for the small amount of coin involved that it's a keeper even without a luxury scent.

Don't forget Murphy's Oil Soap. It smells like that too. 
Yeah it does - I bought a puck a few weeks ago to have a go at it. It's harder to lather than VDH. Try some VDH glycerin you will be impressed.

) honest opinion the current formulation of Williams is one of the worst products on the market. Just move to to a real shaving soap, and forget about this pretender.

i really like the smell of Williams. Unfortunately, I don't have much success in making a good lather out of it.
This problem seems to crop up frequently...it's probably not as esoteric as whether you've been "chosen" by Williams (as happens with Lilac Veg allegedly
), do you have hard or soft water? My water's soft and I get great lather from my mate Bill - Thread starter

Actually I have been using VDH delux for a couple weeks now with Kiss my Face as a superlather. By isself the VDH is nice (not that I have much to base it on, my first ever shaving soap) but with the KMF it is sweet. I even use the lame VDH green handle boar brush. I believe a Rudy Vey is in the near future.
Anyhow, I might use this puck for kicks sooner or later
I do lke the scent of modern Williams.
