I was test lathering some Williams just now and it wasn't performing as well as I'm used to. I thought about it, and realized I was lathering in my old spice mug. I tried in my scuttle and it acted how I'm used to. This got me thinking. So I lathered in my palm. It performed better than usual. Repeated three more times. Every time I lathered in my left hand it performed better than in either vessel. I suspect Williams likes smooth surface agitation (ridges in scuttle, natural lines and bumps in hand) but dislikes sharp surfaces (like the wings inside old spice mugs) which cause it to create larger bubbles. It's just a theory, but for those of you who have mixed success with Williams but have a puck laying around, it may be worth a try.
