Williams lathering.

I was test lathering some Williams just now and it wasn't performing as well as I'm used to. I thought about it, and realized I was lathering in my old spice mug. I tried in my scuttle and it acted how I'm used to. This got me thinking. So I lathered in my palm. It performed better than usual. Repeated three more times. Every time I lathered in my left hand it performed better than in either vessel. I suspect Williams likes smooth surface agitation (ridges in scuttle, natural lines and bumps in hand) but dislikes sharp surfaces (like the wings inside old spice mugs) which cause it to create larger bubbles. It's just a theory, but for those of you who have mixed success with Williams but have a puck laying around, it may be worth a try.

This is interesting. My only great lathers with Williams have been when lathering with my boar brush on my left hand...

My Finest badger lathers Williams pretty well in my scuttle (better in my hand though), but my $1 kent boar couldn't lather at all in the scuttle, I moved it to my hand and I would estimate that within 3 seconds it had gone from unusable suds to an at least acceptable lather. Then it continued to improve to a pretty decent lather.

Bummer that I tossed out my half used puck of Williams because it couldn't compare to VDH and now I want to try your theory. It may have saved the Williams puck from an untimely disposal.

I sometimes think that is why Williams is still in business.

Guys who buy a puck, try it, hate it, toss it, get interested again, buy a puck etc. etc.

Yeah, it was kind of weird, I come back from a little vacation and this space hippy had taken over my Avatar and posting, when I asked him what the heck he was doing, all he talked about was free love, Eden and free rent.

I put a puck of Willams in a sock and used it like a sap, and the last thing I heard from him on his way out the door is he was going back to the sixties and he'd see me in syndication...:confused1

Well, nice to have you back, Herbert.

Any old puck of Williams makes a great sap out of a sock. They are as hard as a brick.

I think Williams was meant for face-lathering. I seriously doubt that anyone thought of hand-lathering "back in the day." Just my opinion, though.

Wow, man, that was stiff!

It did take awhile for them to upgrade us with second hands. You see some of these poor guys born in the fifties, can't even drive with manual transmissions. Such a pity.

;)

You know, with all this talk about Williams soap, how come I don't see any of the online vendors selling it? If it's as cheap as you guys say (less than a dollar in some places), I'd be willing to add a puck or two to an order and have a go at it.
