Why doesn't Mennen Make Skin Bracer scents?

I doubt anyone from Mennen cares enough to join or watch shaving forums since they were taken over by the Giant Behemoth.
Unfortunately, I think you're right, my friend, though I do find complaining about it to be quite cathartic. :smile1:

Here's the full Skin Bracer alternative line-up from 1967. Wintry Spice is another Mennen scent that I really liked. I think they ended up calling that one Cool Spice before it was eventually discontinued. The last photo includes an old Slap pinback button, a bottle of the French version of Dry Lime and a Speed Stick from around 1962.

Why doesn't Mennen make Skin Bracer scents of Leather, Cool Spice, and Wild Moss (most of all!) ?

When Colgate-Palmolive bought them these great products simply went away. I wrote to them and got a snippy, arrogant letter that said simply, "You are the only one who has requested this." That's it.

I like these scents better than the regular and better than most everything else.
Here's a sample of some great Mennen Company customer service circa 1945. This wartime corporate letter is addressed to a recipient who has evidently been unable to obtain Mennen Skin Bracer at his local drugstore.

Oh, how I wish these were still made. I never got to try any of them. But anyway, the mainstream aftershave market has clearly diminished considerably. Probably in some large part due to anti-alcohol hysteria. Or maybe just because of the man-bun crowd.

Service like this is what made these big companies what they are today. Actually listening to customer demand and wanting to keep their customers and keep them happy. Notice this wasn't a free shipment the customer did have to pay but willing to bet they were more than willing to pay for the product they wanted. Sadly these big giants of industry are only interested in money and couldn't give a rats fart about quality or customer satisfaction. What I wouldnt give to have a time machine.... bet it was amazing to be alive back in the day.

Lol some comic books are worth a lot of money if they are stored properly, which is the hardest part since kids like to open and play with their toys and read their comics. If we kept our kids toys in the packaging we all could be rich, but where is the fun in that?
I have a huge collection of vintage late 70s-late 90s toys now that I've built over the years, in that very state--I told my parents I think I got caught up in finding everything we couldn't afford when I was a kid.

I remember as a teen constantly getting the Mennen Skin Bracer "gift packs" with 4 small bottles of various scents for every holiday party. So much so that I gave them away or tossed them.
Talk about regrets!

I absolutely threw out more cologne and aftershave products than I used. The one thing that I did use was Skin Bracer and that was due to my father. He used an electric razor and Skin Bracer was his go to. He gave me his electric razor when he got a new one and a bottle of Skin Bracer. That was his way of teaching me how to shave.

Unfortunately, through no fault of his own, my father wasn't around to teach me how to shave. I learned by cutting myself...a lot, and through trial and error. I had an adjustable Gillette razor and didn't even know what the settings were for. I'd walk around, like a lot of other boys, with pieces of toilet paper stuck to my chin or face. None of us even knew what a styptic pen was or an alum bar. To this day, I normally don't use either. Skin Bracer was my go to aftershave. I preferred the Wild Moss, but the Spice and Leather were also frequent flyers. The girls liked the wild moss a lot.
