Why do some people spell Fatip with a capital T — i.e. FaTip?

How do you spell it?

  • I spell it "Fatip"

  • I spell it "FaTip"

Why are we discussing about the Italian pronunciation of Fatip, anyway?

Premana is a comune (in Italian) which is a Township or Municipality. They are know for cutlery made by skilled artisans. Fatip was saved by Ilario Fazzini, a skilled artisan of Premana, who moved Fatip from Milan to Premana when he aquired it in the 1980's. Fatip is an acronym for Ilario Fazzini's full name. Ilario Fazzini is a member of the artisan guild of Premana.

The Fatip abbreviation stands for FAzzini Teresa Ilario Paolo. The two letters P turned in the logo (dP) means Pafaro Premana. Pafaro is the name of Ilario Fazzini's company, and Premana is the name for the township. See logo below.

There seems to be some disagreement where I think Alex said the acronym is Ilario Fazzini's full name, and where SteveWY says it's an acronym for Ilario and his family. I'm tending towards SteveWY it makes more sense. This should settle it that the Acronym is Fatip and not FaTip, as they are not a combination of two business entities that have come together each deserving denotation of a capital letter in their own right. The two P's in the center, one inverted, (dp) seperating Fa and tip refer to his company Pafaro and Premana the town. On the logo the f is lower case, and on Fatips web site it is always spelled Fatip and never, ever, FaTip.
i went to an italian website, many historians said that Fazzini used FAzzini and tip as in the razor reference.

Probably you should pronounce it as Fah-tip.
In English the word 'tip' sounds much like in Italian (where it isn't a word, though), a short 'ee' sound. Think of ship, as opposed to sheep.
What is missing is a proper sound for the A, even 'cAr' isn't close enough. Possibly the sound of AH would do, for any practical purposes.

Thanks Alex, it is all rather confusing. I've searched the web extensively trying to garner as much information on Fatip as I can. I've searched Italian web sites, translating the pages into English with translator option, and your avatar shows up often times. I could have saved a lot of time and effort simply reading the information you've shared here lol!
The one thing I haven't found is a picture of Fazzini the maestro himself. I found a picture of a group of people in a Permana Consortium page where he was listed as being on the board, but the board names didn't add up to the people in the photo. Didn't you once say the Fazzini family go back as artisans in Permana around 600 years?

thay are descendants from long line of artisans in Premena of over 300 years....

Since the nineteenth century, PREMANA, picturesque and isolated village in the mountains bordering the Lecco lake, has been a renowned centre for the production of blades , scissors and knives .

The roots of this specialisation in iron-related industry trace back to the Roman Empire times, when important iron veins were discovered in the region.
Since 1882, FAZZINI 's family has been among the most recognised manufacturers of blades and scissors .

My precious!
You're up with the chickens this morning! I hate wasting a sunrise, they mean more the older I get.
I wake up at 4am every morning for work. I'm currently on a two week winter break (paid). This does not include vacation time. I'm up to a month of vacation a year. I've been working for a school district for a long time. The older I get the harder to change up my sleep pattern. I do love my morning coffee and the sunrise. The house is always so pleasantly quite on these days off. I value the alone time.
