Why daily shaving is important for daily running in cold climates

Cool and slimy
The title is as pretentious as it can get, but accurate nevertheless.

I am running daily or at least every other day, in the morning, noon, or evening, sometimes even at night. My preferred trail right behind my house has unfortunately been savaged by loggers and wood transports, so I often go running elsewhere.

But I now have made daily shaving a habit, after I figured out what happened to my running cap. I use a water resistant and windproof cap for running in cold weather, when it gets windy I draw it down to protect my ears.

I barely have sideburns or rather shave them away, so what the cap finds there is young, grating stubble that roughs of the fabric of the rim of the cap considerably over time.

I didn't immediately get the idea why this happened to one cap and not the other. Then I noticed that I always used to use one cap right after shaving and the other one next day...

Here is the result (background is a muddy trail):

But no worries, it doesn't compromise function and I could restore near fresh looks using a lint shaver. 😁✌️
