which progress do you prefer (handle)

im going to give this a try but now im seeing there are 2 handles a long 105mm and short version. which do you prefer and is there any difference in overall balance? does the longer handle in your opinion compliment or hinder the progress? i would go for the xl but i have been on the list for some time now and not heard anything about it. a bit torn after stating i would never buy merkur again after my plating issues and how they responded but ive been dying to try the progress out.

There is a difference in the long and short in the way it handles. The long one seems to put more weight on the head but the short one has more control.

It is a personal preference which you will like the best.

Which ever you choose you will enjoy using the razor as it is an amazing tool

I've had both the short and long stock progress razors, I've also had several custom progress razors and at one time I had 5 of them.

I am down to just one custom progress and I think this is where I will stay for a while.

Yea, that is another razor I have to keep locked away so that I am forced to use all of my other razors.

Some razors are just too nice and it is not fair to all the others in my rotation to keep them within easy reach

I've had four of the short handle progress and sold four. I've had one long handle progress and still have one long handle progress. For me the short ones just dont give a close or comfortable shave. I struggled to find a good grip postition which is weird as I like the short handled Merkurs and Gillettes. The long handle for me just sits about right in my hand. The head by design becomes heavier and so you use less pressure, this then leads to more control and a smoother shave YMMV.
