Which handle is correct?

I have a ball end New that I purchased while traveling, it has a large ball handle, and has come apart. I recently purchased a Star DE, that has a mismatched handle. It looks identical to the broken handle except it has a small ball handle. I looked at Achim's site but did not see any that looked small. Which is correct and what razor do the small ball handles go to? I would just swap it for my personal use, but if I decide to PIF it, I want to make sure that it has correct handle.

If you are meaning the circumference being smaller then the small ball handle would go to the Tech. If you are talking about the circumference being the same as the bell end NEW handle but it is shorter, then you may be talking about the handle off a British NEW. They are slightly shorter in length than the American NEW handle. By the way, the early ball end NEW handles were left over handles from the low end Old Types and were also used for all Goodwill razors. That is why they have the same cracking issue. They are the same handles!

Here is a comparative shot of an American and a British NEW I used to have. British is, of course, on the right. Notice the neck is even slightly smaller in diameter.

I will post some pictures after I get home this evening. I don't know about length, but they are definitely two different diameters. The handle and the ball end are proportional on both, just two different diameters. The new head looks like the one on the left, I remember the two rows of patent numbers. Just from the picture, I would say the left is what I have as a razor. With the other handle being a smaller diameter.

Here is a picture of the 2 handles with the head. The handle on the left is the one that came with the head. When assembled it is about 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch longer, than the one on the right.

the right handle is a Tech handle
Yep, ball end tech handle for sure.

Thanks for this.
I have a ball end handle with a mismatched souplex head. It's unmarked and not cracked and I don't know where it came from.
I didn't know what it was as it's exactly the same as all my NEWs in form but shorter.
I buy a lot of NEWs from the UK *bay, as they have better plating, cases, don't seem to suffer cracking unlike the USA ones, and most of all non one peice razors are cheaper in the UK as they aren't popular and postage from the UK is cheap.

So that's where it probably came from, a UK new, as I've bought a few of them.

Thanks, gentlemen. This place never ceases to amaze! It looks like I will be repairing the handle on the left, to preserve the razor. Now does anyone have a handle for a Star DE and need a handle for a Tech??
