Where to find "Fossil-esque" watches that aren't "Fossil's"?

So I'm in the market for one or two nice and cheap (yeah I know, somewhat of an oxymoron) watches with a modern look. I was looking through Fossil watches, and like them, but can't help but feel like I'm getting ripped off at those prices.

I also walked into a Swatch store and there stuff was kinda neato also.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Have any outlet malls around you? Fossil is present at just about every one of them that I've ever seen, and they tend to sell factory refurbs at the outlets for $15-30, depending on the watch. There was a time when I just went and bought one after another when the batteries died, since they were cheap and it required less effort.

+1. The outlets have both Fossil and Relic refurbs at great prices. The only drawback is you'll still have to have a Fossil rep, or real jeweler do your battery changes and such. Most box stores, aka Wal-Mart, are prohibited from touching a Fossil.

now THAT'S funny.

:biggrin1: It's true! I can think of 3 that have dead batteries sitting in a desk drawer right now, and another that was all packaged up to send off for a new crystal when I decided it was cheaper to just buy another ($30 for new crystal plus shipping, at the time- I believe this watch was the beginning of the 'just buy a new one' plan). So that makes 4. I think there was another sitting in the arm rest of my old car when I sold it, too

Send 'em to me?

Why is it difficult to replace a fossil watch battery? My father is a jewler... but doesn't specialize in watches, but I'm sure I can find someone...

I think I'm going to just get a $20 watch band and stick it on what I have now, save me some dineros.

Little Watch Shop here in town charges next to nothing for battery changes. It isn't a huge cost. Don't let that be a deterrent to you getting a watch that you like.
