HA! I'm doing some research on blades and came across a post on another site (don't worry I'm loyal to B&B) and a guy mentioned a certain razor/blade combo was his "Whisker Pistol". I love it! This post prolly could have gone in the razor or blade sub forum, but I wanted to share it with the group. So what is it!? Whats your Whisker Pistol Combo? Right now mine would have to be my EJ89 and a Feather. Can't use it every day. I'm still searching for a nice sharp blade I can use every day, but nothing I've tried so far mows 'em down with the ease of the Feather.

Why can't you use a Feather every day? Irritation? Expense?
Since I have improved my shave prep/lather along with adjusting technique I have noticed my irratation has gone away. I use a DE89 head on a IKON bamboo handle with a new father installed after 2-4 shaves.
Mergress & Med Prep. I have no problem shaving every day and change blades every Sunday.

I use a, Astra SP in my Merkur Futur set on 2.5. Shark Super Chromes are pretty good too but Astras are my daily blade. Feathers are indeed super sharp but I find them rough so I don't use them. Astras seem to cut the whiskers just as well but are much smoother.

To your question on blades, I've used very few beyond the Feathers with any regularity, but blade folklore says that the Gillette Blacks and Blues are high in the sharpness department, but still quite smooth. The Yellows have a rep for being sharp, but maybe not quite as smooth. They're a tad more expensive than Feathers (30+ cents per blade for Blacks... around 27 cents per blade for Feathers).
