What's for lunch.

Vegetable burger (Morningstar Farms Griller) topped with grilled onion, caramelized kimchi, melted Swiss, and 1000 island. Time to make more kimchi.

Headed to Five Guys for a cheeseburger with grilled onions and mushrooms, pickles, ketchup and mustard, order of fries, and a vanilla shake with the whipped cream. Had it all worked out in my head. Then I saw the new Pho place a few doors away, so lunch became a large chicken pho with all the fixings and three pork spring rolls. Don't know how I missed this place which is a five minute ride away. Guess I really don't go to Five Guys all that much!

Fridays are Fishtastic!
Running short on time before work, so went to the diner with the wife. Had a Cali omelet (chicken, spinach, Swiss Cheese, topped with avocado) with salsa and a small cup of fruit.

I've been before but this was my wife's first visit to 15 Stamford, Alvin Leung's restaurant in the Capitol Kempinski. He has a 2* in HK and a 1* in London (since closed). He is nicknamed The Demon Chef and the chinaware is designed with his motif. They do a very good value set lunch - we had a twist on a Singapore classic, kaya toast and egg, to start and rotisserie chicken rice. Dessert was chocolate soup, ice cream and a salted shrimp sable. The service was impeccable, the setting equally so and the food was superb.

Russian-bottled sardines in a sweetened BBQ sauce on Wasa rye krips, followed by Turkish yoghurt with some rose-petal jam mixed into it, ending with unsalted Iranian pistachios and an Italian moka.

Back to my student years in the last century: The Toasted Hotdog Sandwich

Homemade multigrain bread
Two hot dogs
Homemade kimchi
mayo and other side stuff

Toast the bread, steam the dogs. Cut the dogs in half lengthwise. Prep the toast, squeeze kimchi. Put 'er all together and stuff it in yer face. Lunch of Champions.
