What would you call your GRAIL Gillette Vintage?

Been looking off and on for a Nickel Gillette Aristocrat English made Type or #21, or #15 Safety Bar v/s Open Comb. Keep checking auction sites, but most are beat un or pitted or scratched terrible.

The Bostonian.

It's a nice heavy OC razor with a fat handle built in the 20's. It had a unique case that raised the razor to display it when opened. They are fairly expensive normally going north of $200.

If you can deal with less than pristine condition, they come up on eBay here and there for a lot less than that. I recently got mine for about $40-50. No blade box and the interior lining of the case is partially missing. Razor is in decent user condition, though.

I never looked to deeply onto getting one, because another razor always got in the way! Lol! But the few quick glances I made showed them to be pretty expensive. They were pristine for the most part, and they were in those cool "elevator" cases, which probably raised their price quite a bit.

Good to know they can be had for only 40:eek:r 50 bucks. Someday I'll get serious about looking. Thanks!

On eBay at least, there's a huge price gap between the collector-grade Gillettes and the user-grade ones. Mine did come with the case, which I'll admit was part of the attraction.

A Bostonian razor by itself would probably be closer to $40, but I agree that the case is cool to get.
