What type of metal is the Muhle R-89 made of?

I ordered one in and received it last week. I was really surprised at how light it is compared to the Merkur HD or Classic. Is the Muhle made of aluminum, or some other light metal? I don't think the head is made of chrome plated brass? Does anybody know? Just seem very very light, especially the head of the razor.

I'm not sure what metal is used, but the light weight is due, I believe, to the hollow handle. The razor feels a bit head-heavy as a result. Nonetheless, it's a great razor.

If you look down the thread of the handle, you should be able to see an interior of brass. This might just be the cladding on the thread tho, I assumed the whole thing was brass. Don't know if the "brushed" effect is integral to ZAMAK or not.

The handle could be brass and the head still made of Zamak.
Brass is ideal for handles, it has superior machine ability.
Zamak has a low melting temperature and is easier to cast then brass.

Could be. What we need to know is the mass of Zamak and brass and then determine the volume of the head. Probably not worth all the effort really.
