Alright, so...it's taken me a year to do it, but I've found my go-to blade. The problem is it's actually five blades. 7 O'Clock Yellows, Red IPs, Astras, Crystals, and Astras all give me comparable shaves. What do you do when this happens? Order all of them and mix it up? Go with whatever's cheapest?

I see Astra twice on your list so 20% of your problem solved right away! If they are all equally good for you go for the cheapest. Or continue your search; I have found a lot of blades that work for me but only a few that really put a smile on my face after the shave. The aha-erlebnis came around just a few times and I guess I tried over 60 or 70 blades now.

Good catch, the fifth was meant to be Bluebirds, ha.
I think if I keep comparing I might eventually get a winner. My gut says it might be the Yellows, but thus far the evidence is inconclusive.
I've always felt that there's really only about 5 or 6 different blade groupings out there, and all the different brands offer only slight variations within each grouping. Just find whatever works, and buy the cheapest of them.
I keep a couple varieties around, just for the change of pace. Buy 50 or 100 of your favorite 2 or 3 and maybe a couple spares of other varieties in case you get a sudden urge to be wild. If you find that you've run completely out of one variety and still have half your others, you'll know which one is really your favorite.

I agree. I have found that what I didn't think was so great 6 months ago all of a sudden is terrific.
Just when I found my favorite DE blade, I switched to SE and straight shaving..... haven't touched a DE in 3 months.....Oh Bother
How about "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe"? Otherwise, go with the one that has the greatest availability and/or lowest cost per shave.
