Goto stalking gun is a 1992 Ruger M77 MkII in 308. Shot a nice buck this year with it. When I'm in a Stand all day, I will normally use my Ruger No 1 7mm mag. After my success this year, I decided to add another to the stable and picked up a Thompson Center Venture in 7 mm mag. Sighted it in and had an issue opening the bolt after the shot. Cartridge was expanding with a mark, so it's currently back at the factory. Hopefully it will get all worked out because it is a sweet shooting rifle. The rugers are both topped with Leupold scopes and the TC has a Zeiss.
Winchester Model 70 Standardweight .30-06 is the king of the deer rifles around here.
Other rifles that have taken deer, some used with fair regularity, include: .220 Swift, .257 Roberts, 7X57, .30-30, .30 Remington, .300 Savage, .303 ICL Improved, .32 Winchester Special, .351 Winchester, .405 WCF, and .45-90.
Seems like there's a couple Ruger and/or .270 guys here, I'll add another. Leopold 2x7 scoped, last I bothered to take it to the range it was doing 3/4" with Federal Premium 140g
