What is a Soap brush

What is a soap oriented brush ?

Does it have to be very dense ? with lot of backbone ? Is silvertip less approriate than a best badger grade ?

I am using my new D01 two band shavemac brush and I still find very tedious to build lather in a bowl.
Though the face lathering approach works very well : The brush seems to keep inside the loft a large part of the soap and delivers it quickly when I reface lather for subsequent passes. It is quite practical but I wonder if this makes the brush what one call a lather hog and if this is really a problem ?

The grade doesn't have much of a role to play, it's more about the brush having enough backbone to dig into the soap. That's mainly a factor of the length of the bristles, and the density too.

Try loading the brush with a lot more soap and an extra drop or two of water. D01 requires extra product or it will hog the lather, especially if you're bowl lathering.
