What if I shave more?

Morning gents. I recently received my DE and am absolutely in love with shaving now. I actually look forward to waking up early to shave. My question is this: is it bad for my skin to shave WTG before bed as well? I do a three pass in the mornings, mostly because I have to be clean shaven and my ATG pass still leaves me looking pretty rough. Thanks for your advice on my previous threads. This forum is fantastic!

ymmv. i would say to try it and see how it goes. if it doesnt work you may have to alter your routine or gear to get the results youre looking for.

We share a great hobby and it's easy to get carried away trying new products and chasing the 'bbs' shave. Your skin will let you know if it can can recover from the trauma of the extra night shave in time for the morning shave.

As long as you stop when any redness or irritation appears, and give your skin time to heal, it's safe to try it.

I shave at least once per day and two times if there is an important event that night. I found, in the beginning, that if I focused on technique there were no drawbacks to an increased number of shaves. If I knew I was in a hurry I'd stick with 2x WTG instead of risking damage.

if you shave before bed then what would you be shaving in the morning? I doubt there would be much, if any hair growth that the blade could shave.

Odds are you are going to irritate your skin, and you could put yourself in a spot having to skip days to heal. Maybe not. But I think you are better off sticking to one shave a day and making the best of it that you are able.

Don't be afraid of touchups. First, remember to use the lightest touch possible and concentrate on angle. After you think you are done, find the spots you must touch up. Only touch up those spots you absolutely can't leave as is. Then use no pressure and go over only those spots one more time.

I think it is good for your skin to have 24 hours to recover, I wouldn't make a habit out of shaving more than once a day. Maybe just focus on taking more time for the shave in the morning, do a fourth pass if need be.

I can shave twice a day a couple of times a week if life demands it. I usually do a final ATG every shave but that can be too much twice a day. WTG and XTG is best in that situation. Can you get by without the ATG pass in the morning? If not, maybe really concentrating on technique will help reduce the rough look.

Try a straight, the bbs lasts longer and dont ask because I have no idea why. Ive used shavettes, DEs and now straights since october. Closest most comfortable shave and im 47 years old and shaving since im 16.

Other than irritation and added expense you might want to consider the social implications. Vladimir Nabokov hinted at them in his novel 'Lolita'.

Lolita Haze: "Do you always shave twice a day?"
Humbert Humbert: "Yes, of course. All the best people shave twice a day."

Shortly after this conversation Humbert murdered Lolita's mother and eloped with the 14-year-old. It ended badly for him and perhaps for Lolita, too. A word of caution offered in friendship. The too avid pursuit of the sensual pleasures of shaving may direct your steps onto the path of perdition - or perhaps not. At the worst you'll look good for your mug shot.
