Some irritation on neck. Thayers Lemon immediately helps to soothe it down. Overall 8.5/10

8.5 / 10

DARN comfortable shave, just not quite as close as I like after my usual two-pass shave. I really do like this razor, though.

Shaved twice today - have an early meeting and want to save another 15 minutes of sleep. So ended up shaving in the evening as well.

Never-ending Arko stick, Maggard 26mm synthetic brush, Muhle R41 with Personna Blue (2), Aqua Velva Ice Blue followed by Dickinson’s WH, and finally some Eucerin to condition face overnight.

9.5/10, only because I like Feathers more.

7th straight shave with the RR GC.68 and the Nacet blade. This blade is still sharp and smooth! BBS. This is my first time going past 3 shaves before replacing the blade. I catch myself looking at the razor while shaving and wondering when is this blade going to go dull.............

Razor: Wolfman WR1
Blade: Chinese Wilkie (6)
AS: Pinaud clubman

Thought I'd jump into one of these SOTD threads as I have lots to learn from other people's experience and a growing amount of kit of my own to discover before I start whittling it down again

Preshave RR cube
Soap Henri et Victoria cigar and cognac
Razor GEM Gbar, maiden shave.
Blade personna GEM
No aftershave products except some of the left over soap rubbed on my face.

9/10 shave. Super smooth, no irritation or nicks.

Very surprised and impressed with this shave. On par with a Karve e plate. I've tried GEMs in the past and quickly given them away. This one is a keeper.

Fatip Grande
Silver Star (5)
Yaqi Two-band mysterious space facelathering
RR Blue Label hard soap
Dickinson's WH + Robert's Rose Water
Proraso White balm

Fine shave; DFS

Notes:
  • Loaded the Blue Label soap much heavier today to good result; Got a bit carried away and had enough lather for eight passes, probably. Lather volcano!
  • Silver Star blade continues to do well in Fatip OC, will probably switch tomorrow to try a new blade, not because this one is finished.
  • Still experimenting with steeper angles on the Fatip OC. No significant irritation which surprised me a bit.

Today's Shave:

Aqua Velva Ice Blue

5 / 10 (but not the fault of my gear)

We’re on vacation in the mountains, and it’s the first time I’m wet shaving with hard water. Building a lather on my face was difficult, and the whole process didn’t feel great on my skin. The end result was a slightly uneven shave and a small Nick on my neck.

Tomorrow I’ll steam my face more, mug/bowl lather, and maybe shave with filtered water.
