I butchered myself yesterday with what might be my last attempt at a gillette TTO (still waiting to try my fat boy). I was using a 40's SS, Tabac, and a Feather. Quite possibly the worst DE shave I have had yet.
Flash Forward to today...
DFS with a Gillettte NEW head on a ball end tech handle and a Kai blade.
I got a lot of 4 vintage Gillettes and this one came as a NEW head on a fat Tech handle. The lot also included a ball end Tech. So, I switched the handles and now have a fat handle Tech, too!
Has anyone else tried this combo?
I was looking at one of cooncatbob's handles if I liked the NEW head, but now that I have tried it with the Tech handle, I am not sure I want to mess it up. The balance is perfect. Just the right amount of extra weight vs. the regular Tech head and a just slightly more aggressive shave. It is definitely a keeper. And to get a DFS after yesterday's debacle, I am pleasantly surprised.
Also, I received the stick of Arko I bought off BST from techdog. That stuff is great. I am liking using the shave sticks a lot. I also got a Speick, and am waiting on some Irisch Moos.
The scent of the Arko was immediately familiar and nostalgic. It smells exactly like the soaps in Brazil. Love the smell... super clean; almost clinical.
