We're Off to LOSERville

Well, I've just taken my first stumbling steps toward LOSERville. An Ever-Ready 1924 arrived yesterday and, hand in handle, we began our journey today. It warmed up to me right away and became my blood-brother without ceremony. Its enthusiasm is probably my fault; I gave it a Gem on our first date. Additionally, I felt my lather was sub-par today. Still, that's a worrisome level of exuberance on its part. I'm sure though, things will improve. I don't expect to loose more than a pint of blood at the most. Out of respect for the Illinois Constabulary I refrained from calling it a s****l h**d as I reached for the styptic pencil. Wish me luck.

LOL. Nice write up. Sorry it didn't quite work out. For me I need quite a steep angle on the 1924, and remember, no pressure! Good luck for the road ahead.

Good stuff !

The '24's near the top of my list of favorites.Once you get in the zone with it you will find it to be one hell of a fine razor.

Nice Write up, But never give up on it till you have at least tried it for 8-12 Times, that should be enough time for you to understand its angle and adjustment to your face and what creams this 1914 gets along with and your face ) Good Luck in your future shaves

I'd agree with both of these. The one thing that always throws me off is the way the blade sits back a little from the front edge of the razor. It always takes me a bit to get the feel of where I'm shaving. A nice low angle really smooths out the performance of this razor for me.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. Like the old indian in Josey Wales I will endeavor to persevere. However, unlike the indian, my horse did not surrender. I think he just deserted.

Here's a video that will teach you how to SE shave without blood. Even though he's particularly discussing the open-comb Micromatic, the same principles work for the rest of the SE razors. Enjoy!! :thumbup1:

That is an outstanding video.Shows a lot of what I learned by trial and error. What I really like is that he explains the little stuff so the viewer doesn't have to read between the lines to figure it out.Even though it's about Open Comb Micromatics I feel much of it is applicable to SE razors in general.I hope you don't mind if I share that with new SE shavers who need a little help getting started.

I don't mind, I think Mr. Guy made an excellent video that all new SE shavers should watch.
