Hooray! My first DE. I recieved some Dorco blades, along with three different types of Lord blade. I don't know where to start!

Congrats. Let us know how you like the razor? Tip for later the Dorco blade that comes with it is not really good (Blue wrapper Dorco). Anyway enjoy ur shave.

Yes, you will enjoy the Weishi. I enjoy mine a lot. You need to find a blade sampler pack somewhere, there are several vendors out there that carry them, and see what works best for you in your Weishi. Welcome to the club!
A decent starter razor that is quite easy to get used to, agree about dorco blades, enjoy your shaves.
In February, 2009 I was getting down to my last disposable, twin blade, Costco razors. I had been shaving with Track two's and disposables for the last ten years along with some Edge shave gel. In 2008 I started using my fathers Rubberset, boar shave brush with a mixture of 1/2 bar of Dove soap and 1/2 bar of glycerin facial soap, chopped up and placed in a soup mug. I had the Dove and glycerin soaps on hand and I wanted to see if I liked to use the brush before I bought any shaving soaps.
I was getting some good shaves with the disposable twin blade razors, usually with two passes. I tried to find a old Gillett TTO razor, but could not find any locally. I ordered a gold, Weishi and a large sample of razor blades to try. It was my first DE shave and the Weishi did a good job once I found the sweet spot. I shaved with it for about eight months and the Weishi taught me a lot. I finally bought a Merkur HD and found that it worked better then the Weishi. I thought the Weishi was a great starter razor to learn on. Even though my main razor was the HD, I would often switch back to the Weishi.
In December 2009, my nephew came up to visit for Christmas and I told him of the great shaves I was getting with my new razor. He was interested and I went and bought him a Vanderhagen boar brush shave kit and gave him my Weishi with fifty assorted blades to try. I just talked to him on Saturday and he loves the Weishi razor and VDH shave set.

Enjoy the Mild Flavor! Weishi is always in the rotation...
Your Weishi will definitely teach you technique with the benefit of not taking an ear or nose off in the process!

I'm using a Lord Platinum (?) blade with decent results. I'd really like to try Feathers, but they seem so expensive.
