Weber SS very mild?

I shaved for the first time with my Weber SS the other day. It has a great heft which I love and I love the fact that it's stainless steel, but has anyone else found it ultra-mild? I loaded it with a Feather expecting great things (never shaved with a Feather, thanks SantoSubito!) but I found it to be very mild (weird with a Feather), required an exact angle to get a feedback and took quite a few more passes than with my Merkur 34C..

also on a sidenote, I found the Feather to be ultra-smooth but found myself randomly getting little pin-drop nicks here and there (that went away with a splash of water)..could have just been bumps on my skin but I thought it strange..

I'm ashamed to say the little nicks are the very reason I passed those Feathers onto you, and Feathers seem to do that in every mild razor I've used them in a Tech, SuperSpeed, and Popular. But in an open comb like a NEW or an Old Type I never have the same problem.

I do hope you like that Weber though, I pulled the trigger on one recently because I've found out I love mild razors.

I will try the 7 o clock greens and see how i like those..I really liked the Astra SP that came with the Weber in my Merkur 34

I did not find the Weber to be overly mild. I have a Muhle R89 and to my face, the Weber is more aggressive. Not as aggressive as say a NEW long comb, but about in the same range as a NEW short comb...maybe a little less. It gave me a much better shave the first time than I ever had with my R89. Closer, smoother and with less left during cleanup, which is where I get most of my irritation. It may be the weight, I don't know. Whatever it is, I did not find it too mild.

I suggest you try a Gillette Silver Blue, a Polisilver SI or even an Astra in your Weber. I have actually found the Astra does the best in the Weber, so far. Ted ships 5 Astra's with the razor, and I guess for a reason. My shave was smoother and closer with the Astra than it was with the Polisilver....and the Polisilver is good.

Hopefully you will find a blade that works for you in the Weber. If not at least you should be able to sell it here for close to what you have in it. FWIW, the Feather tore me up like that a couple of years ago. Bad razor burn and nicks everywhere. I haven't used one since.

I thought I would never use anything but the Feather. Then I got a Weber and did not care for the Feather at all. I found the Astra SP the be perfect with the Weber. It is shaving not surgery, I don't want to use extreme care when I shave. I want ease and comfort. Krona Feather, SS Feather, Weber Astra. It is Weber only for me now, no more looking.

I found the Weber to be fairly aggressive. So much so that I couldn't get on with it. Many say it's very mild, but in correspondence with Ed Weber, he told me that he ranked it as slightly more aggressive than a 34C. My experience seemed to confirm this. I wonder if there are some inconsistencies in tolerances making some razors mild and some more aggressive.

now that I think back, it's possible the growth was just a bit too much and that's what lead to me thinking it was 'mild', will report back next time I shave, this time with an Astra..

First shave with a Weber this a.m. I'm still trying blades and figuring out what I like/don't like. However, Crystals have been great blades for me no matter which razor I'm using. This is what I used this morning.

I really like the way the Weber PH shaves. I like the heft, the balance and the feel. Audible feedback seems to be better than the de89 and the shave is every bit as good with less clean up when done.

The Weber made a great first impression on me.

So second shave with the Weber SS just now. Used an Astra SP blade. Didn't even take my time (late/tired/getting up early) AND I used Barbasol instead of MWF. Did a quick 3-pass. Let me just say...wow..ultra comfortable and ultra smooth. Zero nicks and zero irritation. I may have just found my new razor/blade combination, this is just brilliant. I'm excited to have a proper take-my-time-and-enjoy-it shave. Well done Weber, you have made a fine, fine razor.

I think it was a combination of the Weber not jiving incredibly well with a Feather AND my growth was a bit too long. As you can see, I think the world of it now. It is more aggressive than the 34C but smoother (at least with an Astra in place).
