Weber Lovers, Unite!

I recently purchased a Weber DLC - mainly because I liked the look of the matte black head. After the first shake, I'm absolutely hooked. This thing is amazing! It came with a 5-pack of Astra SPs, and I'm very happy with the combo. So far, it is providing much smoother and closer shaves than my EJ DE89.

Long story short, I think I'm in love. Any other Weber lovers out there?

I used a Weber DLC for the first time this past week every day. I'm with you. The Weber DLC is a very nice razor. It's a smooth, mild shaver, but I still got BBS or close to it every day this week with no irritation. I'm very happy. The fact that it is durable stainless steel makes it that much nicer. I bought mine off BST for $40.

Can you guys explain the two finishes on the heads? Will they ware off with time? For 70$ the price is right for a stainless

Not sure about the wear characteristics, I have an ARC model and through normal use it doesn't seem to wear any. I guess only time will tell although the finish looks very much like the finish on my Ikon OSS and that hasn't worn any either.

I am with you! I have the DLC with the classic handle. Close between it and my EJ89-but I believe it a bit better. Both however are much much better than my Futur, Merkur HD and Fatboy! Actualy thinking of offering my Futur up for a trade for a ARC or DLC Bulldog!

I'm a huge fan! Just had my second shave with the DLC head and got an incredible BBS shave (8 hours later - palms now need a shave).

I really like the black on SS look. I opted to use a 7 o'clock black for the first round and it was a very nice combo. I'll be going with the Astras they included next shave.

$70 bucks was worth it, IMHO.

I'm in--I have been using a Personna Med Prep in it, and this razor combo (bulldog/dlc) feels incredible against my face...smoothe, mows through the stubble,
and makes it feel virtually impossible to cut yourself while doing this. Not as exciting as an R41, but so much better for me. And sexy to boot. I picked up a 20 mm Silver Tip Fibre Brush, and the DLC head and that make a nice set.

I ordered mine on Friday (a very impulsive buy), and it should be here by mid week. I am coming from a Muhle R89 as my daily razor. I hope my experiences are as good as nearly everyone else's.

According to Wikipedia, "DLC is very resistant to abrasive and adhesive wear making it suitable for use in applications that experience extreme contact pressure, both in rolling and sliding contact." That seems to bode well. No sign of wear in the couple of months I've had my Weber DLC, but of course you wouldn't expect to see any change in such a short time.

I use shims in my DLC to up the aggressiveness. Three shims really widens the gap and makes a noticeable difference in aggressiveness, but even so it's still a very forgiving razor.

I got my Weber DLC with classic handle in one of the first batches, when it was still $55, and it's an amazing razor. Haven't touched any of my Gillette's since I got the Weber. I'm taking some time off from the Weber now though, cause I just got a Tradere, so I need to get properly acquainted with that one!

You'll have to let us know once you've tried it! My purchase was also very impulse driven, and now I'm absolutely blown away. Glad to see there are lots of other Weber Lovers out there!

got an ARC with bulldog handle from B/S/T. i absolutely love it, and the combination of the shiny handle and matte head is fine with me, because at least the head on the ARC has that titanium color whereas the DLC has a black finish, which i think would bug me. it's a great shaver and such a steal for only $70.

Count me in as another Weber Lover. I have the DLC with the long handle. I will probably purchase the ARC with the Bulldog handle as well. Great razor!

Isn't there anyone who can answer me whether they changed the knurling from what it was on the old handles and whether it's more robust now?

Same as mine, I really like it and it seems to have replaced all my safety bar razors since I bought it.

The ARC with the Bulldog handle is really nice, I think I will probably wait for a while and then perhaps pick up one of the DLC ones also with the Bulldog handle.

The SS Bulldog Handle has very good knurling and I have no problems with the grip. The handle is thick, solid and weighs ~68.5g.
