vintage Vegetal... bottle, anyway

So I found this:

Bottle held six fluid ounces; it's about 6.75 inches high.

Although the bottle is as close to empty as a bottle can be... it retains the scent of vintage, unmistakable, once-you've-smelled-it-you'll-never-forget-it, yes it's old but it's potent... Lilac Vegetal.

And it smells a lot like today's version - not as acrid, somewhat rounder, richer.... I don't know if the juice was used up (likely) or simply... what would old LV do? Surely not evaporate! ...disappeared.

Even though I can't stand LV, this bottle is too cool to give up. I would like to decant the modern stuff into this great old bottle. However...

the labels are falling off. Probably they got wet somewhere along the line, the glue has disappeared... and if I use the bottle I will lose the labels, for sure.

I'm sure this isn't worth anything as a collector's item (every barber had a dozen or more), so I'm not averse to inauthenticizing it (there's a word) by affixing the labels back on. Does anyone know how I would go about doing that? I will have only one shot - I do not want to destroy this in the name of saving it!

And I will want the labels preserved (of course) so when I inevitably dump modern-day LV on 'em they don't shrivel up & blow away.

Any suggestions, assistance, etc will be gladly appreciated.

(Incidentally, I did google every combination of Label Affix Bottle Antique that I could think of & didn't really get anywhere... found some cool resources for collectors, though....)

Here's what I would try:

One thing to do would be to make high quality color copies of the labels. Then have those color copies laminated, then figure out a way to affix them to a different glass bottle and use that bottle for your LV decanting. Then you can keep the old, original bottle as a little keepsake and not have to worry about ruining the original label/bottle.

That's my vote.

Boy that label suggests you splash that stuff all around after a shower and not just as an aftershave. Clearly this was in the era before Hazmat teams.

I do that now with the modern stuff.

There ain't a Hazmat Team in the known world that would come into my shave den after a splash down of that magnitude!!!

If you desire to feel fit, if good taste means much to you, luxuriate in Pinaud’s Lilac Vegetal Refreshant. It is like an ocean breeze mingled with the crisp, tangy fragrance of cool mountain air. You pat it on your face after shaving. You splash it on your body after a shower or bath. Then tingle with a fresh glow with a complete sense of well-being that says “Curtains” to cob-webs and “Greetings” to that feeling of glad-I’m-alive. Deodorizes perspiration… great after exercise and sports – Pinaud’s Lilac Vegetal Refreshant will make you feel as good as you look… and look as good as you’d like to feel. Pinaud

I kept all the old glass bottles of my Pinaud products and decanted the new bottles into the old. I still have a 1/2 glass bottles full of Naturelle Sec, and Fleur De France along with my Lilac Vegetal. I thought I was the only one who did crazy things like that.
