Vie-long brushes

I cannot speak to the particular one illustrated in your link. However, I started with a boar bristle brush in 1949, lost it in the 50's, and bought a second one from the PX (I was in the Navy at the time) and finally buried it with full military honours about 10 days ago!:w00t: It had worn down to a nub less than an inch long from 50+years of use!

I now have three brushes, a Wee Scot badger, another boar bristle and a vintage synthetic Fuller. If you have a badger, you will find the boar brush considerably stiffer, but it will work up lather more quickly on a hard soap as a result. Also lathering becomes a sort of massage too. I like both equally well, to be quite honest.

Enjoy

Is anyone familiar with these? I currently use a best badger brush and am thinking of trying a boar brush, this one in particular: http://bestgroomingtools.com/boar-bristle-shaving-brush-12315-vielong-p-1404.html

There's nothing wrong with the best badger one, but I'd like to try a boar brush, too. I can't find a review of them anywhere.

Thanks.

I have that brush but in a different handle. I don't care for it - it's not very dense at all. In fact it's probably the least dense of any of my brushes.

My Semogue is much better and I'd recommend it as a quality boar.

Thanks for the information. I'll check out the one you recommend and an Omega or two.

For a boar I would go with a semogue. I own the 830 and 620 and love them both. Use them more than my badger brushes
