Recommend me for buying first brush with tufts Pure Badger

I'm not a user of badger brushes, I've never used them and I'm about to take the plunge without wanting to spend a large sum of money.

I always use synthetic bristle brushes but I'm a little bored and would like to try the feel of a badger bristle brush.
I thought of this Pure Badger brush from Dscometics, with around fifteen euros including shipping from China, I can try it.

I've spotted others that cost between eight and ten euros. Them always have Pure Badger badger I think it's the cheapest and lowest priced for Pure Badger but I don't like wooden handles. Even if I want to spend a little more, are Pure Badger tufts by Dscosmetics the best in your opinion?

Considering that it's just a test purchase to see if I'd be comfortable using a badger tufted brush, I don't want to spend more than $40 in total including shipping.

They say that Pure is an acquired taste so „best“ can mean a lot of things.

What do you like/dislike in your current brushes?

A good Pure imo has a scrubby massaging surface and good flow through as well as backbone. A bad example would be scritchy poking individual hairs and/or insufficient backbone to make it a floppy mess.

Edit: I just saw that you are from Italy. For 5-10 Euros I would get first an Omega Boar to see how you like it. It will start out as scrubby as a Pure and then will get continuously softer. You will have a better yardstick then to compare badger bristles.

Be warned. Pure badgers are prickly. I don't know which synthetics you are using.
I have very good quality synthetic bristle brushes. A Chubby Synt 2, a Plisson brush, some Yaqi with Tuxedo tuft. None of them feel stinging on my face.
But there are prickly synths and soft tip synths. But pure badgers usually have prickly tips. There is a slight break in with time. But they still will be a bit prickly.
Well, thanks for the clarification. At this point I'll forget about purchasing a cheap badger tufted brush.

Nothing. Just the desire to try a different type of quiff.

Hog bristle brushes and something like that you listed from Omega I must have tried them already.

If the cheap badger tufts sting I will think about getting some more expensive ones like the Silvertip or Tasso Two Bands if they don't have the problem of sharp tips.

I like my Maggard Razor three band Silvertip knots more than Simpson, Shavemac, Zenith, etc.

Pure badger is an acquired taste and many find this grade too scritchy.
Silvertips are at the top of the hierarchy and known for their softness, but if you want to experience the feel of a good badger brush, a brush in either “Super”, “Best” or “Finest” hair grade may do just nicely.

At a €9,89 price the brush you showed does not instill much faith in quality; it looks to me more like buying a lottery ticket and hoping that fortune will smile upon you.
If you want a good badger to start with, you might try a Zenith (my favourite Italian brush brand), Italian Omega or Portuguese Semogue brush, but in either case you can multiply the price you mentioned by a factor of about 9.

There are some good Chinese made badger brushes available for about a third of that price. They can be a good purchase when bought from a reputable seller with a solid warranty (sometimes sold under the seller’s own name), but it seems such brushes are harder to find in the EU than in North America.

Hope this helps…

I really like these two:

Both 22mm, but the Yaqi feels like a small brush and the DSC, a medium one.

You would probably be better off putting a WTB in the BST. I am sure someone in the EU has brushes like these that they aren't using.

I just sent several good Chinese brushes to a member here in the US for a fraction of what I paid for them.
