Update From The Road

Hello everyone. Here I m typing this to you from the cab of a Freightliner. I am sitting in a truck stop using free Internet , yippie. I have been taking pictures like I said I would and also writing in my ournal. I can not upload pics from this system yet. I am using Idle Aire right now. I do know this, it is running on Linux. I will type again soon when I can.

Right now I am sitting in a truck stop in Ashland, VA and we are heading out to PA or N tomorrow night to drop a trailer full of refidgorators for Electrolux. So for now we sit with not much to do. LOL It is a fun ride and we have many audiobooks to keep us going while driving/riding.

I ust ate a Pop Tart and some water, that was breakfast. By the way the hikl (which key is missng) is not working on this keyboard. LOL More updates as they happen if I can get Internet access.

Hello everyone. I am now in northern Florida in a small truck stop that no one seems to know about. I am actually sitting inside a gamling/internet cafe. The nice people here hooked me up with free Internet, all they asked was that I did not do any porn or anything like that. That is fine with me, I am not in to that anyway. I am having fun on the road and yet I am missing my wife. I was finally able to catch a shower this morning, so I had gone 5 days without a shower. That is truck life. Today I have come from Ohio to Florida in one days travel. I am very happy that the people here hooked me up with free internet useage. Normally here it is $8 an hour. It can be really boring just sitting in a truck stop with not much at all to do. On the truck we do have a 13 inch TV but now that everything has gone digital you can not use it other than for movies. However if you are not in a place where you have a way to power the truck without running the engine, then you are out of luck. Some places will let you run the genorator and some will not. Sometimes you have heat at night and sometimes you do not. Last night in Ohio it was 26 degrees with no heat. Tonight here in Florida it is in the 40s and again no heat. I had a grilled chicken sandwhich and tea for supper. Trucking is an interesting life. I have loads of pictures to upload to Flickr as well. The computer that I am using right now is in a lock cabinet so I can not use my usb flash drive. I forgot the charger to my iPod, so I am hoping that I can find a USB port to plug my cable in to so that I can charge it. All is going well and yet I do want to start heading home. I miss my wife and little girl.
Shaving on the road, well today was my first shave in a week. To make it simple I brough with me and used these items:

KMF brushless shave cream
Gillette AS gel
Redbox IP's

How simple can you get, but hey I finally got to shave. I will be here at this same spot sitting until 4pm tomorrow when we can deliver our load. After that we are back to Georgia, and who knows where from there.

Good morning everyone. I am still here in Ellisville, FL at the Internet Cafe/gambling place. The people here are very nice to me and are letting me use the Internet all I want, free coffee and snacks as well. If any of you are in this area you should come by and check it out. It is off I-75 North exit 414 I think.
Anywho, we are going to get back on the road today around 2pm to deliver by 4PM. After that we have another stop by midnight. Once the load is empty we will have to have another load which my uncle is working on as I type.

As I understand it that's the biggest downside to long-haul trucking: lots of uncertain downtime away from home with no compensation for it.

I am still in the Internet Cafe. The PC's that they are using for Internet and "gaming" are older 2.6GHZ P4's with WinXP. It is not updated at all, I am using IE6. If you type in this

in Google you can get the map of where I am. The A marking this place is off so scroll to the right and you can see the roof of the storefront shopping center that I am in. We are parked in that big 8 achre lot in the grass. I have pics but I can not post them yet. The PC is locked in a case. The people here are very nice. I can drink all the free coffee, soda, and eat all the snacks that I want. Heck they even offered me a dounut. I am enjoying my road trip and yet I want to get home and see my wife and my 17 month old baby girl. I will get home whenever a load heads that way and will let me, so for now I will just keep enjoying what I can and keep on riding. I was a bad boy this morning. I went in to the Huddle House restuarant and washed my hair, face, and teeth in the sink. You gotta do whatcha gotta do out here sometimes. LOL I am enjoying goofing off online and somewhat do not want to head out on the road, because somehow I know that I will not come across another place like this again. I was not able to find a USB port to charge my iPod, eeerrr.

Now you know why I recommended baby wipes. Those suckers really come in handy. Have you been fortunate enough to catch some of the "commericals" that run on the CB? I always got a kick out of those.

Hello again everyone. I am back home now. I had to come off of the truck because of medical reasons. I have a VP shunt in my head which drains fluid from my brain in to my abdoman area. I was getting terrible headaches from the motion of the truck. I got home yesterday and I went to the ER where after an X-ray and a CAT scan they found that my valve was ok and working yet they said I had "Mild hydrocephalus". I am not sure what that means and I am looking into that. They gave me some pain pills and sent me home and want me to make a follow up appointment with my nerosurcen.
