Unidentifiable vintage slim

There is an eBay auction going initially I was looking at. There is a "slim" adjustable but the TTO function is unlike any slim adjustable I've ever seen. It is "longer" and there are none of the telltale Gillette features.

The seller mentions it doesn't have any Gillettemarkings.

Now, I am 100% unaffiliated with this auction and indeed am not going to bid, even if someone says it was King Gillette's personal razor delivered from the future. I'm curious about it though.

Has anyone ever seen a vintage slim adjustable from around this same period that looks like this that isn't Gillette? Is it a Russian knock-off perhaps? I'm intrigued . . .

EDIT: Thanks to moderators. You beat me to it and took out the link. My apologies--that was not an intentional violation!

I remember a member here having one and it is strongly suspected that it is a Soviet era clone of the Gillette Slim. I will try and dig up the posts.

My guess is that it's not a Gillette at all, just one that was manufactured to look like the Slim. Also, why would Gillette not want to have their name stamped on it? :001_huh:

I don't buy the "prototype" bit in the listing. Like the last poster, I assume it to be a Soviet (I mistakenly said "Russian") knock-off. I've never seen one though. Very cool I think.

I actually like the look of the TTO knob better than that of Gillette's Slim--could just be because I'm used to the TTO knob on Gillettes and this is just "different" and therefore looks kind of cool. :)

I know nothing about the razor but according to B&B posting rules I don't think you can link to a live auction. Just FYI

Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking that was only for those we had an interest in. I'll definitely re-read the rules. I think it ends soon, so hopefully it'll be a moot-point soon and I'll re-post the link.

I'm taking down the link for now. Thanks!
