I recently acquired a vintage white handle Gillette slim twist. The handle has a crack.
The crack doesn’t seem to impact the function of the razor, but I’d like to know if there’s some way to repair the handle without damaging the handle or the razor head. Any guidance will be appreciated.
Cool blades, but the razor is hard to mend as the metal head is press fitted into the plastic handle. You could try to fill the crack with a syringe and superglue/epoxy but I don’t think it will be a permanent fix.
I had one like yours from my late father in law and the head was loose in the cracked and crumbly handle. I didn’t manage to stabilize both of them to make it usable again.
Multum etal…
The blades are cool and I got them at a bargain price. As for the razor. I’m sorry to hear that a fix may not be feasible. The razor seems to work just fine at present but your experience implies its days may be numbered. I guess I will have start looking for a backup in better condition.
Thanks for the input.
I'll add some pics when I get home. I scored an old dusty Gillette Knack for a few bucks, didn't know quite what to make of it. It cleaned up nicely- there's no marks on the plastic(!) handle or anything, I've learned to love those scrubbing bubbles. Code is N1 (1968), would have thought it...
