I'm looking for an underwater P&S. I can't seem to find a good combination of underwater depth and good quality images. Being a photo "snob" I'm not going to settle for something mediocre. I've debated about a case for my current P&S, but it's big and bulky. I'm certainly not taking my DSLR underwater. I've been looking at the Canon D10, but think it's horrible ugly and hard to hold, or the Panasonic DMC-TS2, but haven't been thrilled with the sample photos. Suggestions?

I've been out of the loop for some time, but I recall that Olympus specialized in weatherproof models. Mind you, I believe you're referring to a fully waterproof model, but they may still offer something. Good luck.

I don't know what your current P&S is, but a case may not be a bad idea. My first P&S was a Olympus C-750. When I started diving, I bought a case for it. Now that I use a DSLR, I keep the Olympus just for underwater. It is a little bulky, granted, but you already know the camera. Being underwater complicates things and it is nice to not have to think too much about it. I was still able to use any feature or function available on my camera. Eventually, I want a case for my DSLR but that cost as much if not more than my DSLR and thus will have to wait. Anyhow, my point was, if you have a good camera already, it may be best to go into battle with familiar equipment. The bulk never really bothered me.
I bought the Sony TX5 and could not be happier. Takes great pictures, even decent low light, and has an incredible Panoramic feature.

I see no reason for why you should be affraid of taking your DSLR down under water, I have many friends that dive with their DSLRS and as long as you maintain the underwater house properly you won’t have any problems with it.
