Uber Lather

Hello B & B, hope your enjoying your summer. I've been doing a lot of experiments with a lot a different soaps, and have recently discovered Uber lather. Basically after wetting my face, I use a wet bar soap or shave stick( I found Dial cranberry glycerin and Pears hypoallergenic to be wonderful) to rub on to my face. After this, I apply my regular lather made from whatever shave soap of my choosing from my bowl. It's like combining the shave stick method with the bowel lathering. This dual soap method makes the lather explode on my face. The resulting shave is awesome.

I suggest you quit immediately :biggrin1:

DEafficionado, thanks for starting a thread and hopefully stirring up some nice discussion.

Do you find you get similar results to adding a few drops of glycerin to a nice bowl lather using this method?
I enjoy both the vitos pre-shave and MR GLO from time to time... I think leaving some product on your face can most definitely impact the lather.

I've been meaning to get my hands on some glycerin for a long time. Last time I asked a sales lady if they stocked it, she gave me a look as if I'm a terrorist. I have tried preshave with Michael Jordan pre shave oil, baby oil, & olive oil. I think the oil does provide additional protection, however I think I get a closer shave without it. It's been two weeks now that I've been prepping my wet face with soap or stick prior to using brush with additional lather. Arko is a terrific preshave.

Ha, I like how you don't even acknowledge our posts.

I like to add a dollop of Bigelow cream from BBW and 7 drops of glycerine to my scuttle, drip lather on top, and mix for straight razor shave lathering. It also works well for SE/DE shaves, but I find it less necessary as I work faster with safety razors and there is less on-face drying of the lather. The uber lather drys more slowly on my face allowing me more time to work before I have to hydrate or relather and less razor chatter (better glide). Warm scuttles dry the lather in the scuttle bowl which must be rehydrated for reapplications of lather.

So you lather your bowels and that explodes on your face? I'm not sure you read the correct wiki...

maybe he is adding a few drops of nitroglycerin instead of glycerin. that would explain the exploding bowel lather.

i've been experimenting with different soaps and stuff. i'll have to try this. i will however stick with a bowl, and try to keep explosions to a minimum!

What is the correct wiki? Apologies if "Uber" means something else. I thought it meant something like "Super" ,"better", or "upper echelon"

I was refering to the "bowel lather" that exploded on your face.

bow·el/ˈbou(ə)l/

Noun:

  1. The part of the alimentary canal below the stomach; the intestine.
