So, a few weeks ago I posted a comment concerning my first experience with Turtle Bay Bay Rum Shaving Cream. At the time, I had castigated the cream saying that it caused an increasingly intense burning when applied to my face. Today, I gave it another shot and have to retract all previous comments. I began by tentatively applying a few spots of cream to my face and then working it across the rest of my face with my shaving brush. The burn began as before, but since I did not apply as much, it was simply a pleasant heat; not a raging inferno of pain. It was then that I realized something that I, as a newbie, had not known previously, but that I am sure all the experienced wet-shavers on this forum are familiar with: this cream does not lather. It simply applies an almost clear glaze that coats the skin. Skeptical of this development I began to shave. The results were impressive. My blade glided effortlessly across my skin and I was truly able to experience that zen moment of the "perfect shave," or, at least, one of the most perfect shaves I have had in my life, complemented by the spicy tropical scent of Bay Rum. I stood corrected. So, I will be returning to the Turtle Bay Bay Rum Shaving Cream for the foreseeable future. I attribute the shaving experience largely to what I presume is the high glycerin content of the cream. The only drawback was the lack of lather, which I missed. Is there any way (or other cream) that has similar properties but which lathers up the way you want it to?
