Turning my Speick stick into a puck

Hello, gentlemen.

I'm sure this has been covered over and over but for some reason I could not find a thread/tutorial on how to turn my shave stick into a puck. In preparation for Speick week, I've got a few Speick sticks that i'd like to convert. If anyone could explain it or point me to a good thread, i'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Steve

I can't point you to a good thread, but grating it into any container (with a cheese grater) and pressing the gratings into it with your fingertips should do the trick. Speick stick is a harder/firmer soap, but you should be able to press the gratings together. Use whatever container works for you.

Oh, I should mention..... DO NOT place it in a microwave to soften it up. Speick soap contains tallow and it will burn and ruin the soap if you do.

If you are lacking a grater, I actually just cut my speick stick into thin disc slices, layered them into the bowl, pressing them together each layer, in a somewhat warm humid room. They fused into a solid puck no issue pretty easily.

I think I did a descent job. I added a bit of hot water on top, tamped it with some seran wrap, and now its sitting out to dry. Thanks for the help, guys!

Doesn't look bad. I find this is an easier way to use Speick too. Next time you probably don't even need so much water at the end.. I use like 4 drops just to seal the top.

I do the exact same thing with Speick shave stick. I bought a hand turned cheese grater at Walmart and use that to grate all my shave sticks.

I put the sticks in the fridge for about 20 minutes to harden them up, as they start melting from the heat+friction of grating.

Wow, I can't believe Speick doesn't make a puck! The shave went great (i only did a WTG, WTG shave). I love using my cheaper-than-dirt boar hair brush in the shower and it handled my Speick puck beautifully. Its not warm here in Bavaria yet, but the fresh, woodsy scent and great tingly feel of this soap is going to be a great spring/summer soap. I really liked the stick (and will continue to use one in my Dopp for travel) but i love this stuff in a puck. German soap is the best!
