I was a little afraid to try to shave with a razor, designed for the old style blade, with a modern blade, but WOW what a great shave. I am going to try a New just to be sure but I may have just found the best shaving razor for me!

I have the same feeling as you.
This little razor is outstanding. very compact and good looking too.
The head design seems the same to a new deluxe thats why it shaves so great i guess.
All the New variant i have tried seems to be top shaver .

If it is a Tuckaway it is a New Improved razor. Does it have the positioning pegs instead of the positioning bar? The NEW version of this set is called the Norfolk.

Yes it has the pegs. I thought without the shim I might have problems, but it is a great shaver.
I have never used a shim in my Old Types or New Improved razors and they all shave great.
Same experience here.
The Norfolk is one of my favorites, just cause it looks so dang cool, and is a great shaver to boot.
The Norfolks are also the only chromium plated US Gillette razors. Note the difference in hue between the Norfolk and the silver plated Tuckaway.
Oh man...I want a Norfolk so bad! I almost bought a tuckaway on the BST so I could match it up with a New DeLuxe head, but passed. Already spent way way way too much money
I'm still learning with my Old Type 102a. Though it looks like there's no blade presentation at all, it will rip you up if not careful.
