Trying to decide between this 3 Loccitane "combos"

Well, I always start my posts with a small introduction...
A few weeks ago, a friend sent me photos of a Loccitane parfume she bought, I was curious but since she's in another town I didn't mind it too much. The stores at the mall where she is are usually not in "my mall"

Like 5 days later, I was walking at my mall and guess what I found... a Loccitane shop!! :biggrin1:
So, I decided to walk in (pretty shops, they're small and cozy) and talked to the vendor. She showed me some parfumes and I loved one of them (Vetyver) and decided I would buy it for my birthday... then I saw it... shaving products :w00t:

I was *this* close to buy them... but managed to I control my desire and decided to get them instead of the parfume, the problem is this: I don't knwo which one to get. This is why I decided to come here and look for some advise n__n hopefully some of you have experience with the products.

The combos are:
1 - Cade Aftershave Balm + Cade Shaving Cream
2 - Cade Aftershave Balm + Cade Rich Shaving Cream
3 - Cade Shaving Soap + Cade Shaving Bowl

I think I'll go for the combo #2 but the #3 looks nice... tho it's only really one product, and #1 is slightly less expensive... but the important thing here is:
Which one would you recommend?

I have the newer cream in tube and enjoy it. You'll have to use more than you would say, Proraso, but it works a lot better than it did. The balm is fantastic, and more than worth it.
The soap in bowl has a very good reputation.
For convience sake alone, I like tubes for travel, etc, and recommend the balm and cream.
Enjoy!

If possible, I would go with one shave soap and one balm. I would skip the bowl unless you think it's super special.

Interesting, very interesting!
I wonder if I can find a generic cereal bowl or cup for the soap. Chances are I can.

I'll think about it hehe :) Thanx for your input! I hope to see more opinions n___n

I have the soap and the bowl combo. And the soap is pretty good, but the bowl isn't worth it. It corrodes mightily and adds an unnecessary cost. I say get the cream in a tube and the balm. The balm is the bomb! I know...I know....

Weirdly, I went into a L'Occitane shop for the first time on Tuesday in Exeter UK.
That Vetyver fragrance is good weighty stuff- I said to my girlfriend "this is what bank managers wear"
The assistant told me that they didn't do samples for their men's range, so I didn't get to try the soap or cream.
So it's really useful to hear others opinions of them, and it sounds like a thumbs up! :thumbup1:

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I haven't used the cream, but the new cream is getting good reviews. I'm a big fan of the soap and the balm, and miss Cade EdT. I think the bowl looks cool, and haven't had any problems with it corroding, possibly because I always let my soap dry out for 24 hours prior to putting the lid back on.

I enjoy both the soap and cream.
The bowl is very nice for...I would pass on the balm ( I have never used it though)

I have balm, cream and soap. Oily skin, so I really can't tell if the balm accomplishes much, but the cream and soap are excellent products. Unlike some others here, I don't use any more than I do GFT or AoS; just dip the brush tips and it whips up nicely.

I wouldn't bother with the bowl, due to price, but the soap is well worth the money. It's large, a fairly hard mill, so should last a long time. Just hit up some craft fairs or the like and get a potter's handmade; they usually go for just a few dollars

I use the soap and the bowl. I had to replace the bowl because the old one corroded ( the new ones don't corrode). I used the occitan aftershave lotion, balm and EDT, the balm is excellent. I love the scent , very subtle.

I did not care for their shave cream in tube, which I bought a few months ago. Slick but not protective. Store would not do anything about my disappointment.

I have the soap, I find the scent so slight I can barely smell anything.

That's the way my puck was at first but after a several uses the scent really came out. Still lighter than many other soaps, but enough scent for me to enjoy it.

The assistant told me that they didn't do samples for their men's range, so I didn't get to try the soap or cream.

I had success once bringing in my own little sample tub (about 1/4 oz) asking the gal at the store if I could take a sample home. No problem!

I loved the new cream so much I quickly obtained a full tube. I've not tried the new tub, but the tube cream is now one of my favorites, right up there with AoS. Fantastic lather and a great scent.

The Cade aftershave balm is among my favourite balms. It has a nice scent and includes shea butter and glycerin in the ingredients which leaves my skin feeling great post-shave. Compared to other balms such as Nivea or Proraso, the Cade is a little thicker so I tend to use it during the colder months. In warmer weather I find Nivea or Proraso more suitable. But I'm not sure how cold the winter is in Honduras...

Before buying the shaving bowl I would first just buy a refill puck of soap to see if it's something you enjoy. If you find you do enjoy the soap then buy the bowl with your second puck. It could turn out an expensive waste to buy the bowl and soap and then find that you don't particularly enjoy the soap.

My recommendation, on the assumption that Honduras is always warmer than England, would be to add another option. :biggrin1:

Option 4: Cade Shaving Soap refill puck + Vetyver EDT (which is a really nice scent.)

Good idea about taking in your own tub!
I emailed L'Occitane and they said that they do supply samples of men's products but their French factory which supplies them was out of stock. Hmmm...
But as a goodwill gesture they sent me a travel size ASB, and it really is nice- quite heavy in consistency and with a scent that reminds me of some Hermes products

Yeah, I'd go for combo 4. Cade Shaving Puck refill $12 and Cade After Shave Balm $30.

I really liked the bowl but I didn't buy it as I wasn't sure if I'd like the soap. After trying the soap I really do like it. It's a really nice clean scent and it performs well.
I think I'm going to keep using the soap (and buy it again when I run out) but still skip the bowl. I just don't need it and the space it will take up.

The soap is great.
The After Shave Balm is a little on the thick and heavy side. I really do like it though. Feels great and I love the scent.
