Truefitt & Hill scented shave soaps - anyone locked and loaded these?

I see that they are out on the site (1805 / Trafalgar / WE Limes / Grafton) and I was wondering if anyone has pulled the trigger on these? I have used and loved all these scents when I bought the cream/balm/cologne sampler and I was wondering if the soaps performance was up to snuff.

I would hate to have another Geo F Trumper debacle on my hands; where the creams are a dream and the soap are a nightmare

Wow. Truefitt and Hill was the first of the Ts to take seriously the North American market. I mean a regular NA authority to control distribution on these shores. As far as I know they are the sole source for U.S. distribution. If you go to the UK site and try to order from the States it will kick you out and direct you to Truefitt and Hill NA. I remember some of the zany claims made on some forums about T&H NA and their minions trying to force consumers into their Ultimate Comfort line because they had quit bringing in the traditional a/s splashes and a couple of the shave creams. Well not only did T&H listen but they brought back both products and now they have evidently responded to the popularity of shave doaps as well. It sounds as if they have all of their scents covered. Now whether they live up to the name is another matter. I will say this. Back when I was using creams regularly I felt Truefitt's were the most consistent of the three Ts. I cannot speak to them now. I will give them this. They watch and respond to their markets.

PS I see these are currently on the UK site but not NA. Never fear. They will show up here I think. I noticed the luxury shave soap in bowl is now $45. For years it was $36. I personally think it is too much vs performanse level. At least when I went through a cake of it a few years ago.

Well I shall soon find out - I just pulled the trigger on one of each (with another cream sampler...for travel).

Within the next 5 days I expect the package from Chicago will be here in Massachusetts.

p.s. - they don't appear on the site via normal navigation, but I was able to get to the page from a Google search. I have just rec'd three confirmation emails, so I am optimistic that the transaction will bear fruit

On the UK site they declare that the new 1805 and Sandalwood soap will be available from September 1st! Give a look here!

Tim, this doesn't surprise me. These toiletry firms always seem to announce things before they areactually available. T&H is typically quite rsponsive with email communication. It may be wortwhile to ask them if there is an eta for restock.

Looking at the product numbers in your order, is this the 1805 soap you ordered? If so, I think you got bath soap.

Right you are! The first loading of the shave soap bombed and when I tried again I got to the bath soap and pulled the trigger. After I got your note and looked at the UK link - oh well

p.s - Brittney just emailed me that the shave soaps go up on the site in two weeks. An email blast will be issued just before go live.

I got an email from T&H saying that the 1805 and Sandalwood soaps are expected in 2 weeks.

Is there any indication if these are the same basic formulation of T&H's current luxury shave soap, simply with different fragrances, or will they be entirely new products?

If it is the same formula as the most current iteration of T&H Luxury it will be a surefire unlatherable dud.

The new soaps will be of the same base as our Luxury shave soap, just different fragrance - either 1805 and Sandalwood fragrance.

Both soaps should be in our warehouse within 2-3 weeks."

FWIW, their bath soaps are absolutely fantastic, especially the West Indian Limes. The scent is so much more vibrant and natural than the scent of the cream. Truly an amazing bath soap.

I'm not holding my breath about the performace of these new shave soaps, especially if they use the same formula.

Thanks for sharing. I was afraid of that, as I didn't find their shave soap very impressie the few times I tried it. Now if it was 1805 scented with the performance of a D.R. Harris soap, that would be something to get excited about!
